Your new bag from The Bag Department has been designed and crafted to last you many years. Any variations in the colour and grain are a result of the natural characteristics of the leather.

To help maintain your bags original condition we recommend you limit exposure to direct sunlight or heat. Keep your bag dry and avoid wet surfaces. If your bag does get wet, please dry immediately with a clean cloth. Do not dry with a hairdryer, allow to air dry. When not in use, store in the protective bag provided. Never store in plastic as the leather will not be able to breath.

You may use protective water proof sprays but always test in an inconspicuous place first as not all leather can be treated or cared for in the same manner. If you are unsure check with your local ‘leather care’ provider eg. Shoe Repairer. Always cover emblishments eg. anything metal, before spraying.

Be especially careful with light coloured leather around unstable dyestuffs like dark or coloured denim. Avoid excessive rubbing of dark coloured leather on light coloured clothing. Spraying with a protector helps but cannot be guaranteed by The Bag Department. Light coloured leather will also naturally become darker over time with wear.

To clean your leather bag we suggest checking with your local ‘leather care’ provider for the best product for your bag. Do not use chemical cleaners for this product and always try your cleaning in an inconspicuous place first.

We suggest only using conditioners occassionally and they should not be used on Suede, Hair, Embossed or Patent leathers at any time. Please test in an inconspicuous place first.

To polish Patent leather we suggest using a clean dry soft cloth. This is perfect to remove any finger prints or dust.

Hair and Suede products are considered delicate. Please be careful what your Hair or Suede bag rubs against during wear as this may accelerate the wear and tear process. Any accelerated wear and tear due to improper use will not be deemed 'Faulty'.

Are you unsure on a colour or need to feel the leather in person? If you can't get to one of our stockists to view our product in person, we are happy to send you a leather colour swatch to make your online decision making process easier.

Please email us at  info@thebagdepartment.com.au with your leather colour swatch request.
